The Wireless Infrastructure Group (WIG) has submitted a proposal to relocate and replace the existing network tower at Bournemouth International Airport to facilitate on-going airport terminal redevelopment.

Planning documents show that the works will include a new replacement lattice tower that will carry three antennas, a transmission dish, three equipment cabinets, and a meter cabinet.

The site will be enclosed with fencing and a gate, minor works related to the development will also be carried out.

A design and access statement says that telecommunication structures are 2an integeral part of the airports operational environment,” adding that the “existing telecommunications installation is required to be removed and subsequently decommissioned in order to facilitate ongoing airport terminal redevelopment”.

The statement goes on to say that “the upgraded installation will support enhanced network performance while ensuring continued service provision within the airport”.

The proposal is in consultation until May 15, under planning application number P/26/01882/PNTEL, a decision is expected to be made by officers after consultation ends.
