Joao Pedro has been discussing his relationship with one of his teammates following Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Leeds United in the FA Cup semi-final.

Pedro started the game and is Chelsea’s top scorer this season with 19 goals, but it was Enzo Fernandez who bagged the winner.

Fernandez is currently being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, and it would be fair to assume that Pedro would be sad to see him go.

If Enzo Fernandez leaves, we should be all over Bernardo Silva 🤩

He’s set to be available on a free transfer this summer!

Brazil’s rivalry with Argentina has not stopped Pedro from striking up a good relationship with Fernandez.

After Chelsea’s victory at Wembley, Pedro hailed Fernandez as a leader and stated that he enjoys playing alongside the midfielder.

Speaking about his teammate in a post-match interview that has been shared by Chelsea’s official club website, Pedro said: “Enzo is one of the leaders, so I’m very happy to play with him. We talk a lot and we try to help the team, help each other. I think we have a good connection and I’m very happy for him [to score the winning goal].”

Like Pedro, Fernandez has also been among the goals this season. His header against Leeds was his 13th goal of the campaign, which is excellent for a midfielder.

It is one reason why Pedro and Chelsea fans will not want to see him depart this summer. It is thought that Manchester City are one club interested in Fernandez.

How many goals have Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez been involved in together this season?

Looking at joint goal participation, unsurprisingly, Cole Palmer is the Chelsea teammate Pedro has combined with the most.

According to Transfermarkt, they have been involved in nine goals together since Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

It was Palmer who set up Pedro in the 2025 Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain, with the Brazilian scoring with a chip.

Next on the list for Pedro is Fernandez. They have combined for five goals, so there is a connection there as Pedro mentioned.

Hopefully, Chelsea do not tear it apart by selling the World Cup winner this summer. Fernandez is under contract until 2032, so there is no need to cave in if he does ask to leave.
