After 46 appearances across all competitions, four goals and seven assists Kamari’s time in Berkshire has come to an end.
The attacking midfielder has come leaps and bounds since the start of the season, with his development under Leam Richardson and the coaching staff was clear to see. His confidence in his own ability to run with the ball, find the right passes and even take a shot when the moment allowed was there for all to see.
Speaking ahead of his return to Sussex, the attacking midfielder said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Reading. I feel I have developed massively on and off the pitch since the first part of the season.
“I’ve learnt some really valuable things that will hopefully help me on going throughout my career.
“I’d like to thank Leam for trusting in me and helping me feel more and more confident as the season progressed, as well as all my teammates and the staff for making me feel at home.
“Finally, I’d like to thank the supporters for trusting in me and creating an atmosphere that was so enjoyable to play my football in. I’ve loved representing such a big club and will always remember my time here fondly.”
A highlight for many was his long-range screamer in the 2-1 win against Burton Albion in March, which saw the goal nominated for the EFL Goal of the Month.
Former Royals striker Sam Baldock has kept a keen eye on Kamari’s development as Pathway Development Coach at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Speaking to Reading Football Club on his impact, Sam stressed the role the Royals have played this year.
“We are pleased with Kami’s progress this season,” said Sam, who made nearly 75 appearances for Reading and won promotion to the Premier League with the Seagulls in 2017. “He has shown improvements both on and off the pitch and are grateful to all at Reading FC for their help and support”.
Doyle began his career at Southampton, making his senior debut at just 16 years old in an EFL Trophy fixture against Charlton Athletic in October 2021. He signed his first professional contract on his 17th birthday and played a key role in Southampton’s youth success — lifting the Under-18 Premier League South title in 2021–22 and Premier League 2 Division 2 in 2022–23, as well as helping the club reach the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
His progress was rewarded with a place in the Saints’ first-team squad in May 2023, when he made his Premier League debut against Brighton & Hove Albion.
In January 2024, Doyle made the move to Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee. He joined Exeter City on loan in August, where he scored his first senior goal — a superb free-kick in a 2–0 win at Bolton. In January 2025, he was recalled and sent on loan to Crawley Town, where he impressed again with 7 goals in 21 League One appearances.
