Manchester United moved a big step closer to Champions League qualification with a hard fought win over Brentford.
Brentford came to Old Trafford with five consecutive draws behind them, and you could see why. They are resilient and hard to beat.
Manchester United did hold a 2-0 lead at half-time, but had to hang on at the end to see out a 2-1 victory.
United’s players had to work really hard to get the three points. Here is a look at the four biggest winners from the game on an individual level…

Bruno Fernandes is in incredible form right now, and it’s not easy, with United’s fixtures being so spaced out. He provided the match-winning assist for Benjamin Sesko’s winner.
Fernandes’ assist was masterful. Breaking through on goal to lead a counter attack, he declined the obvious pass to Bryan Mbeumo, seeking the more high-risk and high-reward option to pick out Benjamin Sesko, who was closer to goal.
Fernandes waited for the Brentford defender to commit, and made him pay, cutting him out of the game with his incisive pass.
The Portugal international is now up to 19 assists for the season with four games remaining.
He needs two more to claim the outright Premier League single-season record, and just one to tie it.
Surely it’s inevitable he breaks the record now!

Casemiro‘s time at Manchester United is running out, and he clearly wants to make the most of every last second.
He was at his dominant best in the 2-1 win over Brentford, scoring a trademark header and winning tackle after tackle.
His experience and know-how was vital in the final few minutes, helping United to win two vital free-kicks inside the penalty box to shut down Brentford’s attacks.
He only has two more matches left at Old Trafford after this one.
If Casemiro wanted to stay one more year – surely you would let him?!

The goals had dried up for Benjamin Sesko a little. It was important to get back on the scoresheet here.
This was another winning goal for Sesko. He is now United’s outright top scorer for the season with 11 goals, 10 of which have come in the Premier League.
The composed way he took his goal was so impressive, with a beautiful touch inside the defender, and a powerful shot into the net.
The celebration showed his confidence too. He really looks like a striker who belongs, which wasn’t the case at the start of the season.
Ayden Heaven
While Leny Yoro returned to the bench, Ayden Heaven was rightly preferred after his excellent performance against Chelsea.
Heaven was United’s troubleshooter in the first half after Maguire was cut out of the game by long passes. He did enough to put Thiago off and prevent one, possibly two goals.
He also made an excellent diving block in the second half, throwing his body in front of the ball.
The young defender is quickly making himself a first choice pick.
