Virgil van Dijk has insisted that Mohamed Salah will “do everything in his power” to ensure he pulls on a Liverpool shirt at least once more before his departure at the end of the campaign.
Salah, the club’s third-highest scorer of all time with 257 goals, made his 440th appearance for the Reds on Saturday as Crystal Palace was dispatched 3-1 at Anfield. However, the Egyptian talisman was withdrawn from the action with a muscle issue just before the hour mark.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot confirmed after the match that Salah would undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury.

The injury has raised the alarming possibility that the Reds’ No. 11 may have already played his final game for the club, with just four fixtures remaining in the season.
On Sunday, Egypt’s technical director Ibrahim Hassan suggested the 33-year-old would be ruled out for the next four weeks. However, Van Dijk has indicated that his long-standing team-mate will go to extraordinary lengths to ensure he is fit for selection once more for the club he has served with such distinction since 2017, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“We will see him again this season? I hope so,” the Liverpool skipper said. “There will be a medical assessment and then that will determine what the issue is going to be.
“I know he is doing everything in his power to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.

“If you get injured at this stage of the season, especially in the situation he is in, there are only two more home games left for him… it’s a combination of feelings that go through your mind when you go off.
“The reality is he has to get scanned, assessed, hopefully he won’t be long, but at this point I don’t know. Maybe he’s back next week, maybe not. I have no idea.
“He will get the send-off regardless. I don’t think that is the thing at this point, we shouldn’t think too far ahead. Knowing Mo he is a quick healer with the right people around us and let’s see.”

The victory over Palace lifted Liverpool into fourth place, with a testing away fixture at third-placed Manchester United at Old Trafford coming up on Sunday afternoon.
Following that, the Reds face a home clash with Chelsea, before traveling to Aston Villa, with the final day of the Premier League campaign rounding off against Brentford at Anfield.
