The Leicester City boss named a strong line-up against Millwall on Friday night despite their descent to League One earlier in the week.

That approach is likely to change against Rovers at Ewood Park though, in a game that means little to either side.

“I think the last game might be different in that sense because both teams will be, at that point, not playing for anything, and so that allows you to be more flexible with the team you pick,” Rowett said.

“But certainly there will be some young players available to give good energy on the pitch. Maybe if someone else was taking the game, they would use more youngsters, but we want to compete and do well.”

Rowett still wants Leicester to try and show some pride at Rovers to finish the season positively. He inists players are playing for their futures, either at the King Power or elsewhere.

“When you know you’ve fallen short, the last games are not going to feel the same as the last 20 minutes against Hull where we’re chasing it with everything we’ve got,” he admitted.

“But we can go and perform and we can show a good version of ourselves.

“You’ve got individual players, there’s a huge benefit to them performing in another game that people will be watching. There’s a benefit of a player who’s contracted here next season to make sure they perform well and show what they’ve got.

“We’ve got some young players. We won’t be able to use all of the young players as they’ve got an important game as well. But we will have some young players in the squad who will hopefully see some game-time.

“The judgment is already made on the team. I don’t think it’s worth judging the team over the next two games. The challenge is to make sure everyone approaches the games in the correct way. Hopefully, we won’t have an issue with that.”
