Newcastle United are interested in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson ahead of the summer, according to talkSPORT.

The St James’ Park side have reportedly added the Senegal international to their list of summer targets as they look to reinforce their striker options.

Jackson is set to return to Chelsea once his loan spell at Bayern Munich finishes in June, with the German club confirming they will not sign him on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old striker joined Bayern on loan from Chelsea last summer in a deal that included a conditional obligation to buy, worth £56.2m.

Newcastle Eyeing Nicolas Jackson

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle have identified Jackson as a potential summer target and could turn to the 24-year-old as a replacement for Nick Woltemade or Yoane Wissa.

The two centre-forwards have struggled to impress since their arrivals last summer, scoring just eight Premier League goals between them, with Woltemade netting seven times.

Eddie Howe has often left the pair on the bench, favouring 20-year-old Will Osula, who started their last three league games, scoring twice.

Jackson, meanwhile, has played back-up to Harry Kane at Bayern this season, scoring 10 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Bayern’s director of sport, Max Eberl, has confirmed that Jackson will be heading back to Chelsea when his loan spell in the Bavarian capital ends.

He told ZDF: “We will not trigger the option for Nicolas Jackson.”

Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer of 2023 and made 81 appearances in his two years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 30 goals and providing 12 assists.

The ‘unbelievable’ 24-year-old appears unlikely to be reintroduced into the Blues squad next season, given they welcomed both strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap last summer.

Newcastle Keen on James Trafford

Sitting 14th in the Premier League with four games remaining, Newcastle are heading for another busy summer that could result in a squad overhaul.

According to reports, the Magpies are prioritising the signing of a new goalkeeper and maintain interest in Manchester City shot-stopper James Trafford.

The 23-year-old could be on the move from City amid his limited involvement under Pep Guardiola this season, with only 15 appearances in all competitions.

Trafford claimed the Championship Golden Glove last term after keeping 29 clean sheets and conceding just 16 goals in 45 appearances for Burnley.
