Andree Jeglertz
Manchester City head coach Andree Jeglertz dismissed any concerns after his side lost 3-2 on the road to Brighton and Hove Albion.
A brace from Madison Haley and one from Kiko Seike got the job done for the hosts in Crawley – despite Kerolin having opened the scoring for the league leaders after five minutes.
Bunny Shaw scored City’s second four minutes from time, giving them hope they might be able to take something away from the game.
But Brighton held on – meaning City’s lead at the top of the table remains nine points from Chelsea, and 11 points from Arsenal, who have games in hand.
Jeglertz, however, is not thinking about other teams.
“It’s up to us. I’m fully aware that all the players really want to win and they are really putting a lot of energy into getting the results we want,” he said afterwards according to the City website.
“Sometimes we don’t score our chances and sometimes they score on their chances and that’s how it is in this league.
“But for us, we just need to turn it around in a good way and then fully focus on Liverpool [next weekend].”
Andree Jeglertz: Each action counts
A win over Brighton would have given City the opportunity to lift the WSL trophy at home against Liverpool.
But Jeglertz was not concerned about that either – instead choosing to focus on what his side could learn from the loss.
“Our first half, we created so many chances that we should do a bit better with in the finishing phase and then they get one at the end of the half which is tough.
“Brighton came out and scored a couple of goals early and that caused a bit of stress for us in the second-half, so it’s more like a stressful game in the second-half.
“But for us the most important thing is that we’re learning from this, that we’re making sure, no matter if it’s the beginning or the end of the game, each action counts so much.
“If you make a mistake and you think someone else is doing something for you then we will be punished and that’s what happened against Brighton.
“I’m not worried about that, I’m just worried that we’re learning in the right way and fully focusing on the coming week for Liverpool.”
