Manchester United have made contact with Atalanta to discuss a deal to sign Ederson this summer.
The Brazilian is a name on Manchester United’s summer shortlist, with the Red Devils keen to sign at least two new midfielders.
Exploratory talks are being held for multiple targets and contact has been made with Atalanta to determine the cost of a potential deal.
The Serie A side value Ederson at around €50m (£43.3m) and there is rival interest from Atletico Madrid, who are the most advanced team in negotiations.
Atletico have agreed personal terms with the player but are yet to reach an agreement with Atalanta over a fee. The Spanish side are holding simultaneous talks with Wolves for Joao Gomes as an alternative.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Arsenal are also monitoring Ederson’s situation in Bergamo. Manchester United want to sign a defensive-minded midfielder with Casemiro due to depart when his contract expires. Manuel Ugarte is also expected to be sold as part of an overhaul at Old Trafford.
