Steve Jackson and Joseph Phillips, co-principals of Tregonwell Academy in Bournemouth, have been shortlisted for the Specialist Provision School Leader of the Year category in the Tes Schools Awards.

The awards celebrate outstanding educators and schools across the UK.

Mr Jackson, who has led the Nigel Bowes Primary Academy for 15 years, said: “I am proud to be nominated in recognition of the hard work and long-standing commitment to our school community.

“It is also recognition of the teamwork involved in providing the very best education for our pupils.

“The dedication of our staff and our strength as a community have led to three consecutive Ofsted Outstanding judgements and positive outcomes for pupils.”

Tregonwell Academy is part of Authentic Education and serves pupils with special, emotional and mental health needs.

Mr Phillips said: “I’m very proud that our school is recognised for the significant improvements we have made to support young people to achieve their potential.

“We strive to innovative and provide opportunities through our diverse curriculum.”

The Tes Schools Awards ceremony will take place on June 19 at Grosvenor House Hotel in London and will be hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan.
