Manchester United could end up losing out if Andoni Iraola is appointed the next Chelsea manager this summer.

After their worst run in 114 years, Chelsea sacked Liam Rosenior on Wednesday night, as the Blues attempt to stop the freefall down the Premier League table.

Manchester United, for once, are not the big club getting decisions awfully wrong. But this summer, the race to appoint a new manager now sees Chelsea likely to rival any name United considers, although Michael Carrick feels inevitable at the moment.

United have placed Andoni Iraola on the list, with the Spanish coach being considered. But Chelsea are also reportedly viewing Iraola as a frontrunner.

If Iraola goes to Chelsea, United could be big losers.

While United may consider Iraola an option as head coach, the real loss if he joins Chelsea won’t be his services as a manager, but rather the lure he may have over his current Bournemouth players.

Ahead of this summer, United have already been linked with several of Bournemouth’s better players.

United have been linked with Eli Kroupi Junior, as a potentially versatile attacker who can realistically strengthen three different positions.

Additionally, United also have interest in Marcos Senesi, with the centre-back available for free once his contract ends in June.

In a pursuit to upgrade the midfield, United are looking at Alex Scott, along with slight interest in Tyler Adams.

However, if Iraola goes to Chelsea, it would give the Blues an upper hand in signing one of this long list of Bournemouth talents.

With Chelsea entering the managerial market, it is even more of a sign that Ineos needs to decide whether they trust Michael Carrick to become permanent or not.

Carrick has almost guaranteed Champions League football, and as a result the job is probably already unofficially his.

If this is the case, before April ends United need to make it official and start lining up signings to avoid missing out.

Kroupi is a must sign for Ineos, given he can play a role on the left, in the 10 or up front, offering United three for one in his versatility and quality.

Meanwhile, Scott would be a strong contender to arrive as the second midfield addition this summer behind an Aurelien Tchouameni.
