Fulham have triggered Ryan Sessegnon’s contract to extend his time at Fulham until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Sessegnon returned to his boyhood club in July 2024 on a two-year deal after an injury-ridden five-year spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old has made 52 appearances in his two years so far and 30 this term, scoring twice and providing three assists in his 26 Premier League outings, primarily from left-back.

“Of course, it’s the club that I’ve always wanted to be at,” Sessegnon told FFCtv. “I’m very comfortable at this club, I’m happy with how it’s going, last season and now this season as well, and I just want to finish the season strongly.”

Sessegnon joined Fulham’s academy at age nine in 2008, developing through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team. During his first spell, he scored 25 goals in 120 appearances, playing an integral role in Fulham’s 2018 promotion.

Director of Football Tony Khan said: “Ryan spent much of his childhood in the club, developing under the guidance of the Fulham Academy leadership, making his first league start in the Championship in 2016 at the age of 16, and then winning the Championship Player of the Season the following year at age 17, before his pass set up Tom Cairney’s promotion-sealing goal at Wembley Stadium in the Championship Play-Off Final in 2018 following his 18th birthday.

“After spending five years away, Ryan came home in 2024 and has made important contributions since his return to the Club. Ryan is a tremendous professional and a wonderful person, and we’re all excited that he will be back next season!”

Sessegnon impresses this season

Minutes were sparse for the former England youth international last season, with fellow left-back Antonee Robinson undroppable as he played a stellar campaign, providing 10 league assists.

Sessegnon’s contributions mainly came as a substitute and as a left or right winger. He enjoyed a fruitful spell between February and April last year, scoring four goals and setting up two.

But following Robinson’s knee surgery last summer and a tricky road back to recovery, Marco Silva has relied upon Sessegnon at left back, featuring him in every league game he’s been available.

Even after reinstating Robinson upon his return to fitness, Silva has sometimes opted for Sessegnon over the US international, with the former looking more assured as his teammate regains confidence and form after a lengthy spell away.

A reserved but popular member of the squad, Silva has always been quick to praise Sessegnon’s attitude and contribution to the side this season, especially for filling in so well in Robinson’s absence.

The contract renewal is fully deserved given Sessegnon’s impact this season, as Fulham push for European qualification. They currently sit 12th, three points off sixth with five games to go.
