Manchester United faced a centre-back crisis against Chelsea, but Michael Carrick won’t struggle for choice against Brentford.

Michael Carrick’s side were at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night to claim a 1-0 win, with just one fit senior centre-back in the squad.

However, Manchester United didn’t miss those absent as Ayden Heaven stepped up with a sensational display at centre-half alongside Noussair Mazraoui.

Harry Maguire’s suspension will come to an end against Brentford, and so he will be back in the squad for the first time since signing his contract. But he might not be the only returnee.

How good was Ayden Heaven against Chelsea?! What a performance!

Against Chelsea, not only was Maguire suspended, but United were without three others at centre-back.

Matthijs de Ligt remains out with his back injury, while Lisandro Martinez was suspended for the first of his three games for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair.

Additionally, Leny Yoro was injured and ruled out of the game at a late stage.

It was said to be only a minor issue, and now the Daily Mail has reinforced this.

The report claims that United are hopeful that Yoro will be ready and available to play against Brentford.

This is a benefit of the long weekend, as United don’t play until Monday night, which gives Yoro additional time to recover to feature on the bench.

What are your expectations for Leny Yoro’s Man Utd career?

Yoro and Maguire were Carrick’s starting duo before the March international break, so the pair’s return will be welcome news for United.

But after Heaven’s brilliant performance against Chelsea, that left-sided centre-back role is surely his, and so Yoro and Maguire must fight for one position.

Heaven and Maguire would be the most likely choice for United, as Carrick has started the England international whenever he is fit.

Maguire signed his new contract recently and will be eager to repay the Ineos faith.

But importantly, Heaven needs to start, regardless of who partners with him.
