Chelsea need to add more experience to their squad and could do that in the summer.

It was recently reported that Chelsea plan to sign more seasoned footballers to help out their youthful side.

With that in mind, one Manchester City star who will not be at the Etihad for much longer could be the perfect addition.

Chelsea are reportedly set to tweak their transfer strategy and sign more experienced players!

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has shared on X that John Stones is set to leave City at the end of the season.

His contract expires in June, meaning that Chelsea can pick him up on a free transfer. It is an opportunity that is too good to turn down.

Stones is obviously a very experienced centre-half. He has made almost 300 appearances for City and won nearly 90 caps for England.

Since joining City from Everton in 2016, Stones has won six Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy. By the end of the season, he could get his hands on a seventh English league title.

The 31-year-old’s experience is not the only reason why he could be a good signing for Chelsea. Stones is a modern-day centre-back, making him ideal for the way young coaches like Liam Rosenior want to play.

On a free transfer, he has to be considered!

Stones can carry the ball out of defence and make passes into midfield. He is also quite good in the air, which Chelsea could really benefit from after all of the goals they have conceded from crosses this term.

In the past, the Englishman has been guilty of overplaying at times, but the reality is all ball-playing defenders take risks during games, and that does have consequences.

Stones is still better than everything else Chelsea have at their disposal. They should be all over Stones and probably his teammate Bernardo Silva as well, with the midfielder also set to depart the Etihad.

After recent links, Chelsea are no longer thought to be interested in Marcos Senesi, so that is one experienced name who will not be joining them this summer. But with Stones, maybe there is a possibility.
