One potential option for Sandro Tonali if he really is to leave Newcastle United may be increasingly off the table.

While nothing has yet been confirmed, there are signs suggesting that Tonali could leave Newcastle United this summer.

I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I’d take the money and run 😡

The player himself admitted no one knows what the future holds back in November, while there has been constant talk of the club needing to sell key players.

Indeed, Manchester United have been linked with Tonali, but there has been a new development on that front.

Man United focus on other options

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Red Devils are now focusing on other options.

Their interest in Tonali, who is effectively under contract on Tyneside until the summer of 2030, is believed to be receding.

Hard choice – but who are you selling if you were in charge? 🤔

Instead, the Manchester giants are keeping a close eye on Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

Still, it’s hard to imagine Tonali being short on options. While this has been a difficult season for the Italian international, he has still been linked with several of Europe’s top clubs.

There is seemingly no guarantee that Tonali will leave Newcastle, particularly if another key player is sold at a big price this summer.

The idea of him moving to Old Trafford, however, was always a particularly painful one for Toon supporters given the rivalry between the two clubs.

Tonali has endured a difficult season at St James’ Park, although that is also true of many of his teammates.

Newcastle have faith that Tonali would be happy to stay at the club, although that remains to be seen.

Many are predicting a painful summer ahead on Tyneside, and a potential Tonali exit would no doubt form part of that.

There is some small solace – no matter how petty it may seem – that he might not end up at Manchester United after all, however.
