John Terry has admitted that he was very disappointed by Arsenal’s tactics against Manchester City following their 2-1 defeat at the Etihad.
Many have praised Arsenal’s bravery in Manchester; however, the former Chelsea captain says they made a mistake going toe-to-toe with City.
💭 How many points will Arsenal and Man City take from next five matches?
For the majority of the season, Arsenal have often thrown caution to the wind, but Arteta changed tack at the Etihad and went for the win.
Terry believes that Arsenal should have sat back and waited to see how the game played out before going for the jugular against Pep Guardiola’s team.
John Terry slams Mikel Arteta’s tactics vs Man City
John Terry has slammed Mikel Arteta’s tactical set-up during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Man City, and believes they should have been slightly more cautious.
The North London club have now handed City the chance to move top of the Premier League table with a win over Burnley on Wednesday.
Terry told his TikTok account: “What a game that was, Man City versus Arsenal for the title race as well. It’s a massive win for Man City. They’ve been in great form. I thought they were the better side.
“I’m really disappointed, actually, with Arsenal’s tactics. I think the last four or five games that I’ve watched them, they’ve really sat back and waited for the game and see how that develops over the 90 minutes.

“Today, it felt like they were on the front foot, and if there’s one team you do not want to go toe-to-toe with, that’s Man City away because of the form they’re in.
“Great wingers. Haaland, quite an afternoon for Haaland, but he gets his goal, which is a massive goal for him and the football club as well.
“So the title race is fully on. I have to say, Man City have the tougher running, but Arsenal are completely out of form at the moment. They look low on confidence, not enough leaders in that group. How on earth did Gabriel not get sent off?”
After several months of having his tactics slammed, Arteta makes a positive change and still gets criticism from the media.
On this occasion, Arteta certainly needs to ignore what has been said about the performance and realise how close they came to winning.
