Cole Palmer’s drop in form epitomises Chelsea’s struggles at the moment, with the Blues enduring six losses in seven games, and Paul Parker has had his say on the England star.

Obviously, no Chelsea player has managed to score or assist in their last four Premier League goals. It is the first time Chelsea have lost four games and failed to score in any of them for more than 100 years.

Palmer’s form is concerning. The England star has scored just one goal in his last seven Premier League outings, failing to provide any assists. On Saturday, the playmaker was out of luck against Man United.

Are YOU starting to lose patience with Rosenior?

The sympathy is gone…

The former Man City star claims he has “turned a corner” after his injuries, with Alan Shearer describing his situation as “horrible”. But even if Palmer says he’s fit again, former England ace Parker isn’t convinced.

Paul Parker hammers Cole Palmer amid Man United rumours

With Chelsea’s Champions League hopes all but dead, Palmer is certainly not the only Chelsea player struggling to reach their best levels. But Palmer’s dip in form comes with Man United being linked.

Palmer is a £150m target for Man United, but the player himself has ruled out a move. However, his dip in form and the links coinciding do not help matters on the pitch. Parker thinks Palmer looks “lifeless”.

“Your most effective player in Cole Palmer, suddenly you can see his form depleting. He’s depleted of energy, he looks lifeless, he’s got a face of a card shark at the moment in time. He’s not creating a lot.

“He’s doing a lot on his own, rather than where before he was setting everyone up. He’s just lost that. Then you get the rumours about it,” Parker told Goal when discussing Chelsea’s attacking midfielder.

While Palmer said he has no plans to leave Chelsea, he made it clear that qualifying for the Champions League is vital. That was before the weekend’s results, with Chelsea suffering defeat to Man United.

“We’ve still got a lot to play for. We’ve got the FA Cup semi-final [against Leeds] and if we finish in a Champions League spot it puts us in a good position to sign players that we need,” Palmer said.

A loss that was made a whole lot worse when Aston Villa and Liverpool both scored injury-time winners, stretching their leads over Chelsea. Seven points now separate Chelsea and Liverpool in fifth and sixth.

Ryan Giggs has urged Manchester United to sign Palmer this summer. Given the importance he placed on qualifying on the Champions League, failure to do so could tempt Palmer to join a club that has qualified.
