Morgan Gibbs-White scored a 15-minute hat-trick to breathe life into Nottingham Forest’s fight against Premier League survival.

With West Ham not in action until tonight and Tottenham dropping points against Brighton, Forest seized the day and went five points clear of Spurs in 18th place.

Gibbs-White was in exceptional form as he scored three goals in 15 second-half minutes to send a firm reminder to Thomas Tuchel over his England credentials.

After the game, the player received the official Premier League Man of the Match trophy and also his first matchball from a professional game, with Elliot Anderson raving about the captain fantastic.

Anderson was returning to first-team action following the sad passing of his mother, and tributes were paid to her ahead of kick-off.

The youngster produced an exceptional performance, and after the game, he was keen to rave about his captain following his first professional hat-trick.

After the game, Gibbs-White posted on Instagram a love heart with a series of photos encapsulating one of the best days of his professional career to date.

Anderson was one of several players to respond to Gibbs-White, with the number eight posting: “The best”.

Gibbs-White is now the top goalscoring Englishman in the Premier League and he must have thrown a solid reminder to Thomas Tuchel ahead of him picking his England squad for the World Cup.

With 12 Premier League goals this season, Gibbs-White is clearly finishing the season with a flourish, and as the captain fantastic, he will recognise that the Reds are now edging ever closer to safety.
