AFC Bournemouth travelled to Newcastle on Saturday in search of a thirteenth game unbeaten and chasing points ahead of a late push towards qualification for either the UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League.
In their way was Eddie Howe, who has refused to beat the Cherries since his departure following the COVID pandemic season in 2020.
Goals from Tavernier and Truffert, secured both the points and the new club record in the top flight of English football for the longest streak without defeat.
Following results elsewhere, AFC Bournemouth now sit eighth in the Premier League, level on points with sixth.

Speaking to Sky Sports, AFC Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola said…
“I think we played really well, especially first half. The second half it was expected that they had a reaction and they pushed us. At 1-1 the momentum of the game changed but we showed composure and we deserved this.
“This is a very difficult place to come as an away team and you have to be ready to match the intensity. This is a team that is very good on transition, they are so fast in the last line that you can lose those races. But overall we have defended very well.
“I think we are in a great place, great run of results. We are arriving to the important part of the season. We have our chances.
“It is difficult because we have teams ahead of us but we have five games to try to catch these teams, to try to continue playing well and keep this unbeaten run going as long as we can. Because these players have shown they are not taking days off.”
“Everyone is giving everything.”

Not as spectacular as our last win there, but after the events of the past week, what a professional away performance!
You have to love these boys!
Great to see Andoni finally able to celebrate with the fans without feeling awkward about it, too.
Let’s keep this run going and do this !!!!

Like the Arsenal game last week, an excellent performance that thoroughly deserved the result. James Hill and Ryan Christie were absolutely incredible, not to mention Alex Scott.
Before the game, once again, I’d been pretty satisfied with a draw, but winning this is fantastic.
Two big away victories against two formidable sides. If we can win our next two games, both at home against teams below us in the table, who knows?
