Police responded to reports of a fight in the early hours of Sunday

A man was left in hospital with possible life-changing injuries following a city centre brawl.
Police said they were called following a fight at around 2.20am this morning (Sunday, April 19).
They received reports of “a large group of people” the street with “one man injured on the ground”.

The man was rushed to hospital with injuries which “may be life changing”.
Officers later discovered a second man had been assaulted as part of the same incident in Leicester city centre and reported his phone and jacket had been stolen.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was being quizzed by detectives today.
Police have launched an appeal for information to anyone who was in the area at the time.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Detectives are investigating after two men were left injured in a city centre altercation.
“Police were notified of a fight in Hotel Street, Leicester at 2.18am this morning (Sunday, April 19).

“It was reported that a large group of people were seen in the street with one man injured on the ground.
“Officers attended the scene, and the injured man was taken to hospital by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
“He remains in hospital receiving treatment for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening but may be life changing.
“Following enquiries, it was established that a second man had been assaulted as part of the same incident and reported his phone and jacket had been stolen.
“His injuries are described as not life threatening or life changing.”
The force added: “Officers are appealing for anyone who may have any information regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident or witnessed what happened to please get in touch.”
