FT: Fiorentina 2-1 Crystal Palace (2-4 agg)

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, speaking to TNT Sports: “Quarter-final is never easy and we made it a bit tougher than it needed to be. Fiorentina got the belief back with the penalty. It was a very difficult game to manage to be honest. We subbed Jean-Philippe Mateta at half-time and the team showed great resilience today. The team worked hard and stuck together and over the two games we deserved to play the semi-final.

On injuries to Adam Wharton and Maxence Lacroix: “Adam is an abductor [injury], like when he had to leave the England camp. Let’s see, it doesn’t look so serious but we have to assess him further. Maxence was foot to foot contact and then he felt his knee, the medial ligament so let’s see but it is painful. Unfortunately we play in four days again but credit to the players that came in. Today we are celebrating going to the semi-finals, it is a massive achievement for the players and for Crystal Palace and we are enjoying tonight.”

On facing Shakhtar Donetsk: “I didn’t watch them but I saw the line up, I think they started with six Brazilian players, I expect them to be a very technical side. We will start to prepare watching the games they have played. Of course in between we play West Ham and Liverpool and we want to do well in the Premier League.”

Great end to season? “Of course, that is what we all want. We want to enjoy our life together, not just the football. The more successful you are, the more you enjoy your life. When you play the semi-final, you want to get it all at the end and that’s what we will go for.”
