Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has been on loan at Trabzonspor since last summer.
The Cameroon international was the No.1 at Old Trafford for the past two seasons. At the start of this season, he lost his place in the starting lineup to Altay Bayındır.
He dropped further down the pecking order after Manchester United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
Therefore, the Premier League allowed the 30-year-old to go out on loan to Turkey last September.
The 30-year-old was at the receiving end of criticism constantly for his performances for Manchester United. This, to an extent, has followed him in Turkey and also for his displays with the national team.
Manchester United player hits back
André Onana has now gone on a rant against former Cameroon internationals. He went on a TikTok live and Actu Cameroun have relayed his comments.
The Manchester United owned player has now hit out at some former players for their contrasting views on Cameroon. The outlet state he’s pointing out ‘lack of transparency and profound hypocrisy in the rhetoric’ around the national team.
“Very few have the courage to criticise publicly. I’ve been around some of the former players. When you hear them speak in public and then hear them speak off the record, you’d think they were two different people,” he said.
“There’s a price to pay, and they’ll hit you. Then there’s the manipulation, the total disinformation.”
The Red Devils stopper even went on to accuse the national team’s top sponsors of not paying bonuses.
“You know we went four years without bonuses from top sponsors? Does saying that mean I hate someone?” Onana explained.
What next for stopper and Manchester United
Two months ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that Trabzonspor aren’t happy with André Onana’s mixed performances.
On March 6th, Trabzonspor vice-president Zeyyat Kafkas revealed the stopper aims to find a club in a top league in Europe. He also said Manchester United are asking €45-50m, which his side are refusing to meet.
In the summer, the former Inter Milan man will return to Old Trafford, where he has a contract until 2028. He’s unlikely to be a regular at the English club, who are likely to push him out in the next window.
