Barney Smith, 22, stopped Welsh opponent McIntosh in the second round to produce an emphatic victory at the Hydro Arena in Glasgow on Friday evening.

McIntosh could only survive two and a half minutes of the second round before Barney Smith’s power proved too much for the 31 year old.

It was a third well-placed body shot that did it in the end for Barney Smith, who claims titles previously held by Southampton’s Ryan Garner.

Barney Smith is now unbeaten at 16-0, and has set out his ambition to become world number one in the super-featherweight division.

Asked if the world title is next, Barney Smith said: “Whatever comes, comes. I’m happy to keep knocking people out and stopping them.

“Whoever wants it can get it at the super-featherweight division.”
