There are question marks over Leny Yoro’s availability for Manchester United vs Chelsea after the defender was nowhere to be seen as the squad departed for London. Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been included in the squad.

Mainoo sat out last weekend’s defeat to Leeds United with a minor training injury, marking his first absence since Michael Carrick took charge. Speaking at a press conference at Carrington on Friday, Carrick confirmed Mainoo was “working toward” full fitness, with a final call yet to be made.

United headed to London on Friday afternoon with Mainoo making the journey. Yoro was not spotted at Stockport Station and his potential absence would be a significant setback for United, who is already dealing without the suspended duo of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez.

Full-back Patrick Dorgu (hamstring injury) and centre-back Matthijs de Ligt (back injury) are also ruled out of the fixture.

Carrick has handed youngsters Shea Lacey and Tyler Fletcher places in the travelling squad. Both players featured on the bench against Leeds and have been rewarded with the trip to the capital.

United will be desperate to bounce back against Chelsea following their 2-1 defeat to Leeds earlier in the week. The Yorkshire side held a two-goal advantage at half-time and any hopes of a United fightback were effectively extinguished when Martinez was dismissed in the 59th minute.

Martinez was caught pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair and was sent off for violent conduct. The defender now faces a three-match suspension, ruling him out of fixtures against Chelsea, Liverpool and Brentford.

Maguire is also banned for the trip to Stamford Bridge after being handed an additional one-game suspension. The FA upheld their charge against him for allegedly behaving in an improper manner towards a fourth official.

Chelsea were thrashed 3-0 by Manchester City at home last weekend. Manager Liam Rosenior was brought in during January, but he is already feeling the heat following a disappointing run of form.
