Newcastle United have confirmed that Bruno Guimaraes could return for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday.

Club captain Guimaraes has not played for Newcastle United since February after suffering a hamstring injury, which was then compounded by a bout of mumps.

However, the Brazilian is back in the frame for Saturday’s clash at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe looks to lift the mood after a miserable few weeks.

Newcastle United predicted XI vs Bournemouth

With Lewis Miley, Sandro Tonali and Jacob Ramsey all available, it’s difficult to imagine that Guimaraes will be forced right back into action.

Joelinton, meanwhile, is out with a two-game suspension.

Would you risk Bruno right away? 🤔

Also, Trippier over Livramento any day right now! 😡

Changes would be welcome after the dismal defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend, too.

William Osula seems the most likely to lead the line, but the likes of Kieran Trippier, Anthony Elanga and Dan Burn are surely pushing to come back into the fold.

Newcastle United confirmed team news vs Bournemouth

On Guimaraes, Howe said: “There is a chance he can be fit for the weekend. We have seen him in training, he is pushing hard to be involved, he is desperate to help the team, desperate to be involved.

“So, there is a possibility, I will make a decision off the back of training today.”

That would certainly indicate that Guimaraes, who is one of Newcastle’s greatest ever midfielders, can still be considered a relative doubt to start at least.

Fabian Schar is still injured for Newcastle and is not deemed likely to return before May following surgery to remove an infection in his foot.

Emil Krafth’s season is thought to be over after he underwent knee surgery earlier this year.

Otherwise, Newcastle appear to have no other confirmed injury absences as they head into another difficult game.

Howe is under pressure at Newcastle and another defeat would only raise more difficult questions for the manager.
