Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has thrown down the challenge to Arsenal ahead of Sunday’s crucial title showdown.

Pep Guardiola’s side have trimmed the gap at the Premier League summit to just six points. They also hold a game in hand, meaning City’s championship aspirations are firmly back within their own grasp.

“Our form over the last couple of games has been good and we’re playing probably the best football we’ve played in the second half of the season,” he told In The Mixer, brought to you by Sky Bet.

“So it’s a good time to play them, I guess. Where they’ve dipped in form, we’ve picked up form, so it’ll be interesting.”

Semenyo, 26, has played a pivotal part in keeping City’s title challenge alive since arriving from Bournemouth for £64million in January. The Ghana international has netted eight goals and contributed three assists in 19 appearances for his new side, including vital contributions against Tottenham, Leeds and Nottingham Forest.

And he maintains that the squad feel entirely prepared for their most significant fixture of the campaign – even as they attempt to downplay its importance. “We were excited, to be honest,” Semenyo added. “I feel like we’re ready for the game Sunday. It’s gonna be a big one. Title-deciding, maybe? I don’t know.

“But it’s gonna be a tough game, don’t get me wrong. They’ve obviously lost against Bournemouth but they’re still top of the table.”

“We’re still chasing them. So we have to give them respect in that sense.”
