Pierre Kompany, a Belgian politician, showed up with a Bayern scarf in the Belgian parliament today. Pierre Kompany arrived in Belgium in 1975 as a political refugee. After a long and difficult process to obtain his papers, he worked nights as a taxi driver to fund his university studies in engineering. He went on to build a successful career and entered politics in 2006. Today, he serves as a senator, Belgium's first of Congolese and black origin.
