Manchester United are eyeing a move for Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi.
Marcos Senesi is out of contract in summer 2026 and Manchester United are interested in signing him, The Mail report.
Senesi has made more than 120 appearances for Bournemouth and is an Argentina international. On a free transfer, he could provide terrific value.
A move to United would be a bigger gamble for Senesi than it would for United, as he could be one of six centre-backs competing for a place.
But there is a clear case that United will need a sixth centre-back to compete on all fronts.

He’s top quality as a squad option…
Getty Images Manchester United need depth
Manchester United have five first team centre-backs this season, and six if you include Tyler Fredricson, who started last season.
Right now, only two are available.
Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez are suspended. Matthijs de Ligt and Tyler Fredricson are both injured.
Is this a freak set of circumstances? There’s an element of this, but it’s also important to note that United have had a light schedule this season.
Next year there will be Champions League or Europa League football, and hopefully an extended run in the domestic cups.
How will United’s defence hold up with the extra games?
Right now they can’t even cope with this schedule.
It’s clear that United do need reinforcements, especially considering Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez’s injury records.
In 2024/25, De Ligt missed the Europa League Final due to injury. While in 2023/24, United’s defence was so banged up, the club started Casemiro at centre-back on multiple occasions.
Add in Marcos Senesi on a free transfer? It’s a no-brainer.
Where does Andoni Iraola rank for you among Michael Carrick alternatives?
Would you want Iraola at Old Trafford, now he is ready for a new challenge?

Marcos Senesi’s name could be interchangeable with other centre-backs. But there are not many top level defenders available on free transfers.
Senesi is Premier League proven, and he also has a strong injury record.
This season he has started 31 of 32 games for Bournemouth, only missing one match due to suspension, thanks to an accumulation of bookings.
If it is depth and reliability required, then Senesi is the man. On a free transfer, his addition would allow funds to be spent on midfield signings.
SURELY Ayden Heaven will start vs Chelsea? Or will Carrick try and find another solution? 🤔
Heaven played more minutes under Fletcher than so far under Carrick!
