The 19 year old centre-back has signed a one-year extension to his current deal, which came when he penned professional terms back in 2024.

He has risen through the Saints ranks across a decade, after joining the Bristol-based development centre when he was just seven years old.

Fry was enjoying a positive campaign with the under-21s team before he suffered a season-ending injury against Real Madrid in October.

Now on the road to recovery, Fry said: “It feels good that the club have faith in me to get through and come out the other side better than I am already.

“The club were amazing as soon as I got injured. It was probably the lowest point of my season, but they put their hand on me and said, ‘We’ve got you’.

“It was really appreciated. When I get back, I hope to pay that back.”

Director of group talent strategy, Andy Goldie, added: “Max’s injury came at the most unfortunate time, when we were seeing real progress in his game within the under-21s and first team training.

“Although understandably disappointed, he has shown real grit and resolve in his recovery, which has not only earned his new contract but will ultimately stand him in good stead for the rest of his journey ahead.”
