The notoriously inaccurate Football Insider may be spreading false news by claiming that Everton are interested in Brazilian winger, Leo Scienza, who currently plays for Southampton in The Championship.
The transfer window might not be open yet, but the “exclusive” invetions don’t seem to have stopped since before the winter transfer window. The latest name being thrown into the mix for Everton is Leo Scienza, the Brazilian winger currently plying his trade on the South Coast with Southampton.
According to a report from Football Insider — a source with a poor reputation for accuracy and reliabity in projecting future deals — the Blues are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as a potential solution to the perennial lack of width.
Scienza has been a bright spark in the Championship, known for his direct running and South American flair. While he’s found some rhythm in the second tier, the leap to a Premier League outfit is a significant one. He fits the profile of a “low-risk, high-reward” gamble, but whether he has the defensive work rate to survive a winter Tuesday at Finch Farm is another matter entirely.
Let’s be honest: Football Insider’s hit rate is roughly equivalent to a 40-yard screamer from Idrissa Gana Gueye — he might get it right once a season, but you wouldn’t bet your mortgage on it.
Given Everton’s current financial balancing act and the uncertainty surrounding a possible Eurpean place, these “exclusives” often feel like agent-led fluff designed to bump up a player’s valuation or fish for a new contract.
Rumour Rating: 2/10. We’ve been here before with Championship “stars” who end up being little more than expensive bench-warmers. Unless the highly respected recruitment team has found a magic pot of gold at the bottom of the Mersey, this one feels like classic “Scienza Fiction.”

Good spot, Martin!
I haven’t done any transfer rumours for ages, and needed to post one for the Rumour Mill so we could do some internal site management with regard to where this shows up on the site.
Thanks for clicking!
