The St Mary’s side’s 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers was their fourth game in 11 days since returning from the international break at the start of April.
Saints have beaten Arsenal, Wrexham, Derby County and now Blackburn, with 18 different players starting in total and 15 changes from game to game.
Whoever Eckert puts into the team on any given day delivers.
The victory over Blackburn, who are scrapping for survival at the bottom end of the division, stands out as another impressive use of the squad.
There is no rest for Saints, who visit Swansea on Saturday, before four more games in two weeks due to midweek clashes with Bristol City and Ipswich.
Sandwiched between those is the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City at Wembley, while the Championship season ends at Preston on May 2.
That is why Eckert felt the need to rest Flynn Downes and Leo Scienza, who both played less than 20 minutes of the league meeting with Rovers.

Cam Bragg and Cam Archer, who both start more league games on the bench than they do in the XI, ensured their absences were not felt
Cyle Larin completing a full 90 for the first time in a Saints shirt meant Ross Stewart went completely unused, and he will be fresh to start on Saturday.
Perhaps most notable was James Bree’s substitution at half-time. The 28 year old has started every league game since he returned in January.
He had played pretty much every minute since mid-February, with his only natural backup, Elias Jelert, not even selected to be part of Eckert’s squads.
Eckert has often suggested that he is so “robust” he does not need a breather, but a comfortable game state meant he could be given one anyway.
There were also 20 minutes for Welington, ahead of his likely inclusion against Man City due to Ryan Manning’s FA Cup suspension next weekend.
The three points won against Blackburn have moved Saints up to fourth in the table, within striking distance of Ipswich Town inside the top two.
But Eckert will hope his careful and calculated management of the squad at his disposal will yield even more results in the busy weeks to come.
