Dominik Szoboszlai has apologised for his reaction to Liverpool’s FA Cup exit.

Szoboszlai motioned towards travelling supporters after the final whistle of their side’s 4-0 thrashing in the quarter final clash with Manchester City.

The Hungary international’s gesture drew an irate response from Reds fans which continued into the Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

But Szoboszlai addressed the incident ahead of Arne Slot’s side attempting to overturn a two-goal deficit in the return leg of their quarter final showdown.

He said: “Maybe it was a misunderstanding between me and the fans.

“I didn’t mean it in a bad way. Obviously, I know what the fans means for this club, and what this club means for the fans.

“As well as a player, we do everything for them as well, as we do for us.

“So if it was a misunderstanding, then I apologise.

“They can also feel that I’m not feeling better than them, I’m feeling the exact same way they do.

“And to make it clear that I’m with them, and we are with them, and hopefully they are with us as well.”
