In the late morning of April 13, emergency services received reports that a two-car collision had taken place in Banks Road in Sandbanks.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the scene of the crash and road closures were put in place.
At the time, Dorset Police were urging motorists to ‘avoid the area’.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision in Banks Road in the Sandbanks area of Poole.
“Road closures are in place and we would ask motorists to please avoid the area at this time.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Officers confirmed that they received the report shortly after 11:30pm.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police added: “At around 11.35am on Monday 13 April 2026 a collision occurred involving two vehicles in Banks Road in Poole.
“Officers are in attendance with the ambulance and fire services. Road closures are in place. No updates on injuries at this time.”
Alex Burns was an eyewitness and described how the collision involved two vans.

He added that he was in a vehicle ‘right at the front’ of the accident, saying that he saw around 10 police cars, three or four ambulances and around two fire engines.
Alex said that someone had to be cut from one of the vans, which was confirmed by the fire service.
A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: “We were called to Banks Road, Poole at 11.43am this morning (13 April) following a two vehicle road traffic collision.
“Two crews attended, from Westbourne and Poole, and one casualty was cut free from their vehicle and handed into the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was at 12.22pm.”

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 11:37hrs on Monday 13 April to a road traffic collision in Poole. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, and a critical care car to the scene.
“We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Poole Hospital.”
In addition, following the crash and the road closure, Sandbanks Ferry was suspended for a short while.
