A man has died after an alleged poisoning in a Leicester high street.
Leicestershire Police said shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday (April 11), a report was received that a man had been taken unwell at an address in the Clarendon Park area.
The incident saw a major response from emergency services. Queen’s Road was closed with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service in attendance.
Officers said the man was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital, but died a short time later.
Following initial enquiries by officers, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of administering poison. He has since been released on bail.
The police said their investigation into the circumstances of the incident is continuing.
