Bournemouth Police officers responded to a report of a shoplifter in Bournemouth town centre on Sunday, April 12.

Officers said following fast work by the town centre CCTV operators, an offender was detained for a stop & search under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

The search was positive, with more than £300 worth of goods and a device for removing security tags being located.

Officers confirmed that the stock was returned to four different retailers and the suspect with be summonsed to court in due course.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Bournemouth Neighbourhood Policing Team remains dedicated to dealing with shoplifters in the Town Centre.”
