Liverpool badly needed a positive result at Anfield on Saturday, and Arne Slot’s side delivered with a 2-0 win over Fulham.
After a difficult spell, the Reds responded with a much brighter display, with Rio Ngumoha opening the scoring before Mohamed Salah added Liverpool’s second just four minutes later. It was an important afternoon for the home side, not just because of the three points, but because the performance gave supporters something to feel encouraged by again.
Liverpool fans have been discussing the display on Talking Points, and while Salah’s return to the scoresheet was welcomed, there was one clear theme running through the reaction as supporters praised Ngumoha after his goal and lively showing.

Readers of Rousing The Kop were asked for their Player of the Match pick, and it was the 17-year-old who earned an emphatic 82% of the votes. It was a special performance from Ngumoha, who continues to exceed expectations and stake his claim for a place in the starting lineup.
There was plenty of agreement among supporters after the final whistle, with one fan writing: “Only one winner – Rio!”
The overwhelming reaction centred on the teenager. One fan said: “Rio!! But great to see Salah score.”
Another added: “Has to be Rio!!”
One supporter felt there should be no doubt at all, writing: “Gotta be Rio, there’s always a danger of overreacting when a youngster performs like that, but this is the real deal. He was the most positive player on the pitch”
That point was echoed again by another fan, who said: “Agree with the Rio shouts, damn that kid is a baller. Please no more Gakpo next season and play Ngumoha!”
Cody Gakpo’s popularity at Liverpool is already waning, but it will continue to get worse if the youngster keeps producing performances like this one.

Another supporter was pleased to see Salah among the goals again, saying: “Great to see Salah back on the scoresheet”. That view was met with more optimism from another fan, who replied: “For sure, massive if he can hit a patch of form now”
The same discussion then turned to what that could mean for Liverpool’s season, as one fan added: “If he does 4th place is there for the taking.”
Not every comment focused on Ngumoha, with one supporter offering a different view by saying: “Szoboszlai. He had the free run of the pitch & caused chaos in the Fulham half.”
Overall, it was a convincing win for Liverpool’s breakout superstar, who looks like becoming a real contributor for Arne Slot. Not next season — right now.
