A Jaden Philogene penalty and 46th minute strike from George Hirst sent travelling fans into delirium and secured the first double since the Tractor Boys won by the same scoreline during the 1992/93 season courtesy of goals from Chris Kiwomya and Neil Thompson.
Fans described the win as “magic” on this newspaper’s website.
John Blagg said: “I will take that. Could have scored more, had the best chances. 34 years I’ve waited for this, frankly don’t care if it was a penalty or not.
“McKenna and Dara O’Shea deserve credit, good leadership.”
Ed Sheeran, who is currently in New York, facetimed the players to celebrate the win.

To round off a perfect afternoon for Town fans, Tractor Boys’ loanee Conor Chaplin netted a 97th minute winner for Portsmouth at Town’s promotion rivals Middlesbrough to leave Ipswich second, two points clear of third-placed Millwall with two games in hand.
Robert Cutts reflected on this, saying: “Oh, what a lovely day. Budgies plucked and stuffed…. and then Conor Chaplin (baby), our rented out hero, nets the winner at Boro.
“You couldn’t write it if you tried.”
Supporters have also been reacting on social media site Facebook.
Avril Ginger said: “Suffolk happy today, a great win Ipswich Town, 2-0, well done lads.”
Allison Hembery said: “East Anglia is blue once again.”
Jeanette Pughe said: “Brilliant news well done up the blues.”
Zoe Sparrow said: “Well done Ipswich, up the blues.”
