Manchester United could be about to sign one of the best market opportunities this summer in the form of Marcos Senesi from Bournemouth for free.

Centre-back is a position Manchester United wants to strengthen this summer; however, not necessarily by committing funds to that position, with midfield and left-wing more pressing.

However, according to ESPN, United are actually considering free agents this summer in order to strengthen the squad as much as possible.

Now, a potential free agent swoop for Marcos Senesi looks to be on the cards as he prepares to make a decision on his next club.

United have been linked with swooping for Senesi on a free this summer in recent weeks, but now he is expected to be nearing a decision.

According to Matteo Moretto, Senesi is set to decide where he will be playing his football next season.

His Bournemouth contract is set to expire in June, and under the Bosman rule, he will be able to sign elsewhere on a free transfer, with multiple options to consider.

Senesi’s agents are in close contact with United, along with relegation-threatened Spurs and free-falling Chelsea.

The journalist explains that these three are the leading contenders for Moretto’s signature, with other teams further away in their efforts.

This follows the confirmation that United won’t be signing Nico Schlotterbeck, as he signed a new deal with Borussia Dortmund, and on a free, to bolster the squad, Senesi would be a brilliant addition.

Senesi and Ayden Heaven would be excellent depth behind a rarely fit Lisandro Martinez, with all three being top quality on the ball.

He’s top quality as a squad option…

The links to signing the 28-year-old Argentina international come after he starred in Bournemouth’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Senesi played the entire 90 minutes and was key in the victory at the Emirates, which blew the title race wide open.

In the game, Senesi had nine defensive contributions, won four tackles, three clearances, four recoveries, and won seven duels.

With his experience, this is exactly the kind of signing United needs at centre-back to offer depth to a position in which the starters are frustratingly injury-prone.
