The Crystal Palace family has been left heartbroken following the tragic passing of 18-year-old Rory, a passionate young Eagles supporter who attended many matches alongside his best mate, Cam Taylor.
Rory was a dedicated Palace fan through and through – someone who lived and breathed the club, sharing countless unforgettable days at Selhurst Park and beyond. His loss has touched the wider supporter community, and now fans are coming together to honour his memory in the most fitting way possible.
Tomorrow (Sunday 12 April), as Crystal Palace host Newcastle United at Selhurst Park, Cam has made a simple but powerful request: a big round of applause in the 18th minute to celebrate Rory’s life and the love he had for our club. Newcastle also holds a special connection for Rory, as it was where he was studying at university and spent his final moments.
We’re asking every single person inside Selhurst Park to stand, clap, and make some noise at the 18th minute. A minute’s applause (rather than pure silence) feels right for a young lad who brought so much passion to Selhurst Park.
To everyone heading to Selhurst Park tomorrow:
I’m currently speaking to the club and if anyone can help to get a minutes applause going in the 18th min for him against Newcastle, coincidentally the place where he was at Uni and spent his last moments, if anyone can help spread this would mean so much ❤️💙 #CPFC #NUFC https://t.co/pjcxGrm6EK

Let’s make this a special moment that Rory’s family, friends and all who knew him will never forget. Stand tall, applaud loudly, and show what it means to be part of the Eagles family.
Rest in peace, Rory. You’ll be in our thoughts tomorrow and always. ❤️💙 #COYP
