Manchester United are set for a massive summer, both in the transfer market and also in the appointment of a new head coach.
Manchester United’s hierarchy have a decisive summer ahead of them with some big decisions needed, all of which must be spot on.
The biggest question right now is who Ineos will appoint as the permanent head coach. Michael Carrick is the frontrunner thanks to his performance for the club as interim.
However, as important as deciding the next head coach is, Ineos reportedly sees something else as more important.

While getting the next manager choice right is key, Manchester United doesn’t think it is the most vital factor.
This is according to ESPN, which claims that there is a feeling within United that this summer, getting the recruitment right is even more important than who is named head coach.
There are reasons why this could be the case, including the fact that Ineos are happy with Carrick and don’t see him as necessarily needing to be replaced.
Carrick has been involved in recruitment meetings ahead of this summer, which indicates that he is currently pencilled in as the next permanent boss.
When first appointed, Carrick was set the Champions League target, and now he looks very well placed to go on to achieve this in the next few games, which should nail down his claim.

In a way, Ineos are spot on to see recruitment as more important, because the squad right now isn’t fit to play European football, no matter who is in charge.
United have a squad for playing one game a week, so to be ready for a potential 60-game season, at least five signings are needed.
It won’t be all big money, with United looking at Marcos Senesi as a free agent to bolster the centre-back position and add depth.
Left-back is another position United need to improve, as Luke Shaw can’t play two games a week. While the left wing is also a focus for United to add proper width.
Midfield, however, is the priority, and Ineos need to get it right with two or potentially three signings needed to strengthen a position which is already threadbare before considering Casemiro’s exit.
