Ahead of this weekend’s clash, Gary Rowett talked about the injury issues preventing Jordan James’ return. He was recently nominated for the Championship’s Young Player of the Season, and has been a stalwart in the heart of City’s midfield. His match-winning moments have been lacking in the last two games, which makes his eventual return all the more important.
Rowett said: “It was just his heel. He landed awkwardly on it, and his heel was really bruised.” This was sustained in Wales’ penalty defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as James came off just before the hour mark. “Until that goes away, it can be really hard to get rid of that, and a fairly innocuous injury still keeps rolling on another day,” he added. Until he feels fine, there’s no point putting him out there or trying to get him to play.”
Outside of James, Aaron Ramsey has also spent time out but could return soon. Rowett is eyeing the midfielder’s return for next week, as the 23-year-old looks to play his first minutes of 2026. He said: “We’ll see how he fares. I don’t think he’ll be available for the weekend, but he’s another one that, maybe, with a good week’s training next week, and if we can settle the issue, he might be available for the Portsmouth game.”

Swansea Team News
Swansea aren’t dealing with as many problems as Leicester. They reside in mid-table and are coming off the back of defeats to some of the division’s toughest sides. As for injuries, they aren’t playing too big a factor as we approach the climax of the season.
“The squad is in a good place, Zeidane has returned to train, and he is back with the team,” said Vitor Matos. Winger Zeidane Inoussa is nearing a return from a back injury; he hasn’t featured since mid-January. Meanwhile, Josh Key is making good progress in his recovery from a hip injury, though this weekend’s encounter has come too quickly for him. Ethan Galbraith is another notable miss, as Matos recently confirmed he will be out for the rest of the season.
