The Championship clash saw Joe Royle’s men face Nigel Worthington’s side, who had beaten the Blues 1-0 at Portman Road earlier in the 2005/06 season.
Both sides were having mixed bag campaigns in the second tier, with neither team likely to challenge for the play-offs.

Town started the game on top in the opening stages, but it was the Canaries’ who opened the scoring in the 33rd minute.
Yousef Safri played a ball over the top for Jonatan Johansson, who beat the Ipswich offside trap and lobbed the ball over Town goalkeeper Lewis Price and into the net.
Three minutes later though, the Blues were back on terms when they won a free-kick on the edge of the area.

Jimmy Juan stepped up from 25-yards and beat Rob Green in goal as the ball deflected off the head of Johansson in the wall.
It wasn’t the Frenchman’s best free-kick goal of the season but he didn’t care as it was an important moment in this match, and the scores remained level going into half-time.
The second half was a scrappy affair with Town have plenty of appeals for spot kicks that were waived away by referee Keith Stroud, who was an inexperienced official at the time.

But, with two minutes remaining, the Blues got the winning goal their performance overall deserved.
Matt Richards’ crossed the ball to Alan Lee at the far post and Irishman nodded the ball back across the edge of the six-yard box to Danny Haynes, who flung himself at the ball.
The teenager bundled it across with what looked suspiciously like his arm – but no-one cared as Haynes and the rest of the Town players ran to celebrate in front of the Blue Army in the away end.
Despite the scrappy nature of both goals, the Blues were well worth the three points in this East Anglian derby – so, can the current side claim bragging rights in Norwich today, 20 years on?
Over to you, Blues…
