A host of Premier League clubs are plotting an £80m raid for a one-time Lincoln City loanee.
It’s safe to say we were spoiled when Brennan Johnson and Morgan Rogers played for us, and the latter is set to play a starring role for England at the upcoming World Cup. He’s also the subject of significant interest from Premier League clubs this summer
A report from the Times suggests Rogers is being tracked by Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, while Liverpool are also credited with strong interest. The 22-year-old only committed his future to Aston Villa earlier this season, signing a six-year contract, but there is growing belief that this summer could represent a natural point for all parties to reassess.
Villa braced for huge offers
There is said to be an understanding between Rogers and the club that, should the right proposal arrive, a move would not be blocked. Villa’s financial position, particularly with regard to Premier League sustainability rules, means a significant sale could prove beneficial, especially if it involves one of their most valuable assets.
Figures being discussed are substantial. Villa would reportedly demand in excess of £80 million, with some suggestions a deal could climb towards the £100 million mark, potentially rivalling the fee they received when Jack Grealish departed for Manchester City. That level of valuation reflects Rogers’ growing influence and his rapid development into a key figure under Unai Emery.
Even qualification for the Champions League may not be enough to guarantee his stay. While remaining in Europe’s elite competition would strengthen Villa’s hand financially, it is not viewed as decisive in keeping the midfielder at the club if interest intensifies.

One notable aspect of the situation is the reported strength of Rogers’ relationship with Emery and the Villa hierarchy. Rather than a potential departure becoming drawn out or contentious, there is an expectation that any exit could be handled smoothly if a suitable bid is received.
That dynamic could be crucial if multiple clubs push forward simultaneously. With several of the Premier League’s biggest sides monitoring his situation, a bidding war is not out of the question, particularly given the player’s profile and versatility in attacking areas.
Summer set for major decision
Ultimately, much may hinge on how the coming weeks unfold for Villa. Champions League qualification, whether through league position or European success, will play a role in shaping their financial outlook and negotiating stance.
However, the key detail remains unchanged. There appears to be a shared acceptance that this summer could represent the right moment for a high-value transfer, should interest translate into concrete offers.
For now, Rogers remains a Villa player and a central figure in their ambitions. But with elite clubs circling and a price tag that reflects his rising status, he could well be the first former Lincoln City player to break the nine-figure barrier.
