Liverpool have identified potential replacements for Mohamed Salah following confirmation that he will leave at the end of the 2025–26 season.
Salah departs as Liverpool’s all-time leading Premier League scorer and third-highest in the club’s history, having also delivered one of the most remarkable individual seasons in English football – winning the Golden Boot, Playmaker Award and PFA Players’ Player of the Year alongside the league title.
Among the names linked are RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Hoffenheim’s Bazoumana Toure, who has impressed in the Bundesliga with two goals and 11 assists in 24 league appearances this season.
Liverpool scouts also monitored Toure during Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win over Scotland, with the 20-year-old continuing to rise after his international debut in October 2025.
According to the Daily Mail, Brighton & Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh is an option to replace Salah at Liverpool this summer. The 21-year-old, previously coached by Arne Slot at Feyenoord, has developed rapidly since joining from Newcastle in 2024.
Brighton would likely demand a significant fee, though Minteh has stated he is settled at the club despite interest from top sides. Minteh is well known to Slot, having played under the Dutchman on loan at Feyenoord during the 2023/24 season.
At the time, Minteh was a Newcastle player before joining Brighton in the summer of 2024 amid the Magpies’ PSR concerns. He arrived after an impressive loan spell at Feyenoord, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 27 league appearances, along with a total of 37 appearances in all competitions.
Yankuba Minteh began his European journey in 2022 with Danish side Odense BK, where he registered four goals and six assists in 17 appearances – form that earned him a move to Newcastle in June 2023.
He was immediately sent on loan to Feyenoord, where he also featured in the Champions League, scoring once in four appearances.
Minteh made an instant impact at Brighton, assisting Kaoru Mitoma’s opener on his debut in a 3-0 win over Everton, and later scored his first Premier League goal in a 3-2 victory over Tottenham in October 2024.
Minteh made his senior international debut for The Gambia in September 2023. He has racked up 29 appearances, scored two goals and provided four assists for Brighton in all competitions this season.
