West Ham United hope to have Crysencio Summerville fit for their must-win game against Wolves in the Premier League on Friday night.

The influential Summerville has missed West Ham’s last three games with a calf injury suffered against Brentford in the FA Cup last month.

Sorry Pablo, but this team (if fit) are beating Wolves 👍

Still, Summerville has returned to training for West Ham, and Nuno Espirito Santo is hopeful the Dutchman will return for Friday night’s huge game at the London Stadium.

Summerville could be fit to play against Wolves

Speaking at Wednesday’s pre-match press conference, Nuno said: “He’s improving. Cry, JC [Todibo] and Callum Wilson are all improving, so we’ll see. We still have tomorrow to assess, and we’re positive that they can be available.”

That is a major boost. West Ham’s chances of claiming a vital victory are significantly improved with Summerville in the team.

The former Leeds star has scored five goals while registering three assists this season, and it was his dramatic up-turn in form from mid-January onwards that helped turn things around for the Irons.

What advice would you give to profligate Pablo? ⛔

How can he save his West Ham career?

Throwing a key player back in from the off after an injury carries an inherent level of risk, but West Ham do not have much choice right now.

The nadir of West Ham’s season came when they were thrashed 3-0 by Wolves at Molineux a few months ago.

Friday’s game will be a huge test of how far they have come since, and Summerville’s form up until this point has been the biggest example of their rapid-fire improvement.

It is not too much to say that the idea of Summerville not being on the team sheet when it lands on Friday evening would be deflating enough to set the scene for a very disappointing night.

On the flip side, the sheer mental boost of having a player in such red-hot form on the pitch could be enough to lift spirits ahead of what could be an era-defining run of seven games.
