Marcelo has named Rodrygo Goes as ‘the most underrated player’ he’s ever played alongside amid links to Arsenal.

Rodrygo is currently out with an injury, and he is expected to miss the World Cup, but after that, a move to the Emirates Stadium could still be on the cards.

If you were Andrea Berta, how much would you pay to sign Rodrygo for Arsenal in 2026?

Arsenal really considered signing Rodrygo last summer, before the winger ended up staying at Real Madrid for another season.

Marcelo has now been speaking about the Brazilian attacker and has big praise for the player whom Arsenal thought about signing last summer.

Marcelo says Arsenal target Rodrygo is so ‘underrated’

Marcelo believes that Arsenal target Rodrygo is so ‘underrated’, having played alongside him at Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old had three goals and six assists in 27 matches prior to his injury, and Marcelo will be gutted that he will miss the World Cup.

When asked who his most underrated teammate is, Marcelo told Romário TV: “At this moment now, Rodrygo.”

Marcelo has played alongside some very underrated players in his career, like Thiago Silva, Federico Valverde, Sami Khedira and Isco, but he named the Brazilian as the ‘most underrated’.

In the summer, Rodrygo considered leaving Madrid in search of more game time, but following the departure of Xabi Alonso, he opted to stay.

Who’s better – Bukayo Saka or Rodrygo?

Antoine Semenyo thinks Rodrygo is better than Bukayo Saka. Do you agree?

Madrid wanted £87m for Rodrygo, which complicated Arsenal’s move for him, and they ended up not signing a left winger at all.

However, a bad ACL injury back in March means that he could be sidelined for quite some time, and a move in the summer of 2026 is unlikely.

Andrea Berta really likes Rodrygo, and with a move for a left winger likely, he will have to start looking elsewhere.

Berta is still looking to sign another attacker during the 2026 summer transfer window and is collecting a list of names.

Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are likely to be among the list of players who could be sold by the Gunners in the summer.
