Aston Villa face Bologna in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday night, and Unai Emery’s side are favourites to take the victory.

Bologna were one of Robert Baggio’s clubs when he was on the way down, so that’s what I know about them. They’re unbeaten in six Europa League games and 8th in Serie A. They’ve won just five of their 15 home games in Serie A, which is interesting, and they had a good win at Cremonese over the weekend.
Aston Villa have won their last five Europa League games, keeping clean sheets in three of those five. They beat Lille in the last round, 1-0 away and 2-0 at home, and kept Fenerbahce scoreless previously as well.
This is a crucial moment for them. I think they go to Bologna and win the game, and it’s worth noting that they beat the Italians 1-0 at home back in September.
Goals are hard to pick with Villa, so I’m going to go with Ollie Watkins to have two or more shots on target, because he will be busy, and I’d have a look at John McGinn in the fouls market, so back him to commit two fouls, but I fancy Villa to win this game, 2-1.
