Bruno Guimaraes has offered the clearest indication yet that he will return to action for Newcastle United in their trip to face Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Brazil international has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury in the Magpies’ 2-1 win at Tottenham on February 10 and missed 12 matches across all competitions during that time.
Newcastle have greatly missed their influential captain in the midfield but in a video posted on the club’s official social media channels, the 28-year-old has offered the biggest hint yet he is ready to return to action.
Guimaraes wore some camera glasses while performing some individual training drills at the club’s Benton training base, to give fans a glimpse into what training looks like from his point of view.

The former Lyon midfielder exclaimed: ‘It’s a beautiful day in Geordie land,’ as he completed some running and passing drills as he continues to step up his return to fitness.

Guimaraes completed extensive rehabilitation back in his native Brazil, working with the medical staff from the national team to aid his recovery.
He returned to Tyneside last month on the eve of Newcastle’s Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Barcelona and boarded the flight with the team to support his team-mates in the Camp Nou.
A bout of mumps delayed his recovery but speaking prior to the international break, Eddie Howe confirmed that he was hopeful he would be ready to return for the trip to Selhurst Park this weekend.
“He has been working incredibly hard on his recovery,” Howe said. “I’d like to think by the time the international break has ended he will be back ready for us.”
Howe will speak to the media on Friday morning where he will deliver a definitive update on Guimaraes’ availability. The Newcastle boss will also provide updates on Lewis Miley and Fabian Schar who are also expected to be close to a return to action after their respective injury lay-offs.
