But Ferrari dealer Meridien Modena is located in the heart of the New Forest National Park – an area famous for an entirely different type of horsepower.

The free-roaming ponies that used to wander down Lyndhurst High Street – where the business is based – have been replaced by non-stop traffic.

But the surrounding countryside continues to be popular with horse riders keen to ride through peaceful woods and picture postcard hamlets.

Whereas most of Lyndhurst is dominated by tearooms, gift shops, and quintessential English pubs, Meridien Modena caters for sporty, well-heeled motorists in search of the ultimate dream machine.

Its elegant headquarters at the eastern end of the village showcases some of the finest examples of automotive engineering.

Often dubbed the ultimate status symbol, Ferraris come with a hefty price tag that reflects their style and performance.

The cost varies according to the model, but buyers can expect to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds. One of the latest versions will set you back more than £740,000.

Built in the style of a 1907 Italian villa, Meridien Modena’s showroom has been welcoming clients since 1988.

Since then the business has won Showroom of the Year in 2014, Aftersales Dealer of the Year in 2017, and Dealer of the Year in 2018, becoming the only Ferrari dealership in the world to have received all three accolades.

The high-octane enterprise is also the only family-owned official Ferrari dealer in the UK.

Its website says: “At Meridien, we understand and share our clients’ passion for Ferrari, an Italian brand with the finest motoring heritage.

“Whilst heritage and history are a large part of the marques enduring appeal, history can only be made by continually challenging perceived boundaries of sports car design, development and manufacture.

“Our Italian-inspired contemporary showroom facilities are housed within a beautiful listed building.”

Lyndhurst is regarded as the capital of the New Forest. Throughout the summer, tourists strolling down the high street often stop to admire the magnificent supercars displayed both inside and outside the Meridien showroom.

The eye-catching site has been selling cars since 1902, when it became the home of Imperial Motor Works.
