The fire at a unit in Green Lane, Fordingbridge, was reported to the fire service shortly before 11pm on Sunday, April 5.

At the height of the incident, nine fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were on scene.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire is currently unknown and there are no injuries reported.”

Road closures were put in place on Green Lane and Salisbury Road.

Residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut due to smoke in the area.

One onlooker said: “The sky over Fordingbridge was a vivid orange at around 11pm, with the sounds of what we initially thought were fireworks.

 “There were sporadic explosions and we were told by firefighters to stay well back.

 “This was an intense fire at the light industrial estate in Green Lane, backed on to by a few houses, and our thoughts are with the businesses affected.”
